Study Abroad Day 2: Arrival in Barcelona and Codorniu Winery

We got out of the hotel and left Miami at 6:50PM on the 1st of July. I took a photo of the view from the windows outside the elevator at the hotel in Miami because the golf course was stunning:

We are finally in Barcelona! As soon as we arrived we found out that our luggage didn't make it. While we were in line for the luggage counter we met another student from our program, who shared a taxi with us as we went to meet the rest of the program at the university. After wandering around meeting some new friends and eating a small lunch, we boarded a bus for a 1 hour drive to Codorniu Winery. I really had no idea what to expect but when we arrived the winery blew me away! The architecture is absolutely stunning:

Once we all arrived and watched a movie briefing us on the types of wines made at Codorniu, we set off on a 'train' and saw all of this beauty:

Once the tour took us inside we walked down some very narrow and low sets of stairs until we were sixty feet under ground in the cellars. This was my favorite part of the tour we walked around and learned about the methods of making wine old and new. We also boarded another 'train' and toured around all of the cellars seeing rack after rack of wine pass by. Both Callie and I commented that it felt like we were in a Harry Potter movie going through endless deep musky corridors.

On the way back to the bus we decided to take some pictures in the vineyard:

After enjoying the vineyard we took the bus back to the hotel. At this point jet lag began to really kick in and we decided we needed to go and buy some essentials because we didn't have our luggage.  There is a mall right next to our hotel so we walked there. We also decided to eat at a restaurant on top of the mall where we took these photos:

Now its 12:20 AM and time for me to go to sleep. Ill post again tomorrow!
