Study Abroad Day 11: Versailles and Dinner in Bastille

We woke up this morning and headed out on the rer/metro. It was an adventure to figure out how to get to Versailles. We ended up having to change trains 3 times and it took a little over an hour to get there. During the train ride we saw this statue of liberty the sister to ours in New York:

Not the best photo from a moving train:

We arrived and walked through the gilded gates into the longest line ever:

We finally got into the actual gates after about forty five minutes in line and went straight for an audio tour of the palace:

After wandering the palace for a few hours we headed out to the gardens. They were huge, people on the opposite side of the garden looked like ants.

Versailles was over the top! It's something everyone should see at least once in their lifetime. I don't know if I'll go back again soon but I'm glad to have experienced it! After a metro ride back to the city, we decided to go to bastille for dinner because the locals I met in the laundry mat suggested it. I didn't get any photos of dinner but we had to stop at a patisserie for dessert!

I ordered this wonderful treat, layers of sweet creme and caramel pastry:

Cal got macaroons, of course:

Sorry this blog is mostly pictures but to be honest I can't remember the names of everything we saw at Versailles today! Hopefully you still enjoyed it and prepare yourself for the happiest place in Paris tomorrow (;
